Sky Shards

Islands float over the void. Crystal shards hide on top of them and hang underneath. Collect every shard as fast as you can. Everyone races the same islands today, each in their own copy of the world.

Build bridges out of clouds. A cloud melts 20 seconds after you place it, so keep moving. Each shard gives +12 clouds. Fall into the void and you lose 4.

How to play Sky Shards

Everyone online gets the same floating islands today. Your run starts on the big central island. The clock runs until you pick up the last crystal shard. Fastest time wins the day.

Goal

Find and mine every crystal shard. The counter top-left shows how many are left.
Most islands have one shard on top. Big islands also have one hanging underneath, so look below.
Each shard gives +12 clouds.

Radar

The radar top-right is a map of the islands that turns with you. Up on the radar is where you’re looking.
Cyan dots are shards. ▲ means it’s above you, ▼ below, a dot means about your level.
The pulsing ring marks the nearest shard. Shards beyond range sit on the edge of the radar.

Controls

WASD move, Space jump, double-tap W to sprint.
Shift sneak. While sneaking you can’t fall off an edge.
Hold left mouse to mine. Stone and logs take longer than dirt, leaves and clouds.
Right mouse places the selected block. Hold it to place several.
1–7 or the mouse wheel pick a block. M mutes sound. Esc pauses.

Clouds and bridges

You start with 20 clouds. They are the fastest way across the void.
A cloud melts 20 seconds after you place it. At 15 seconds it turns see-through as a warning.
Mining any block puts it in your hotbar, so dirt, stone and logs work as bridges that never melt.
Falling into the void returns you to the last island you stood on and costs 4 clouds.

How to bridge fast

Pick clouds (1) and walk to the edge of the island.
Look straight ahead over the void. A cyan outline shows where the next block goes.
Hold right mouse and walk forward with W. A block appears ahead of you every step.
To go up, jump and place a block under your feet while in the air.
Careful players hold Shift at the edge so they can’t slip off.

Bats

Bats circle the islands, and there are more at night.
Every few seconds one squeaks and swoops at you. A hit knocks you back and can throw you off an edge.
Click a bat once to swat it. Each one gives +2 clouds.
Sneaking with Shift keeps your feet on the ground when a bat hits you.

Leaderboard

Your nickname and time go to today and all time boards when you finish.
Only your best run counts. The world changes every day at 8 PM New York / 5 PM Los Angeles.
Runs under 20 seconds or faster than real time are rejected.
